Pioneering Arts Tech in Hong Kong

EKCC Academy for Arts Tech

Pioneering Arts Tech in Hong Kong

EKCC x Arts Tech Sharing Session
Since 2021, East Kowloon Cultural Centre (EKCC) has proactively embraced the convergence of arts and technology that has transformed creative communities worldwide in recent years. As the newest performance venue of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, we are committed to pioneering the promotion and development of seamlessly integrated arts and technology applications; cultivating a dynamic environment conducive to research, development and experimentation; equipping artists and arts groups with the resources and support necessary to realise technology’s boundless potential to enhance artistic creation.

Through these initiatives, we aspire to create innovative and mesmerising experiences for audiences and showcase the transformative power of Arts Tech, including its potential in the future artistic works.

A Hub for Research and Development

Research and Development Project with EKCC
The Lab of the EKCC is a testbed dedicated to developing Arts Tech projects. With the aim of fostering the creation and incubation of full-length stage productions that can create unprecedented audience experiences, The Lab will serve as a platform where artists and technology professionals can collaborate, explore and experiment the innovative integration of different systems and equipment for artistic creation.

Fostering Collaboration and Networking

Research and Development Project with EKCC
In the EKCC, we believe that collaboration holds the key to unlock the full potential of technology in artistic creation. Through exploration and experimentation, partnership between artists and technology professionals from diverse disciplines will thrive, creating a vibrant innovation ecosystem.

On top of that, we strive to connect with Arts Tech practitioners worldwide to facilitate the exchanges of experiences and expertise through exciting collaborative projects. Networking with practitioners in other regions ensures that the EKCC remains at the international forefront of Arts Tech development, abreast of emerging trends and opportunities.

EKCC Academy for Arts Tech

To nurture talents for supporting Arts Tech productions, we have established the EKCC Academy for Arts Tech (Academy) in 2022. This initiative aims to provide capacity building programmes on various Arts Tech subjects, including but not limited to short-term courses and attachment opportunities, to aid the sustainable development of Arts Tech in Hong Kong.

Besides the short-term training programmes for artists, technology professionals, students/graduates of tertiary institutions and other stakeholders, the Academy has also launched a 24-month Arts Tech Trainee Programme in 2024. Through the provision of a more focused training arrangement, the trainees will become part of the creative workforce and be able to deliver more unprecedented experiences to audience in Hong Kong.
