The evolution of media art is a history of artists continuously leveraging new technologies and media to redefine the boundaries of expression. As Lev Manovich articulated in his foundational principle of "Variability" in The Language of New Media: “A new media object is not something fixed once and for all, but something that can exist in different, potentially infinite versions.” In our contemporary context, the rise of Generative AI has pushed this fluidity and "automated generation" to an unprecedented extreme.

From immersive data landscapes to the dynamic performances of Embodied AI robotics, Artificial Intelligence has transitioned from a mere assistant to a collaborative "co-creator." However, this technological shift raises critical academic questions: As algorithms enter the core of the creative process, how do we define the boundary between human intuition and algorithmic logic? Is the "prompt" an extension of creative agency, or a dilution of original authorship?

We invite you to join this seminar as we deconstruct the ethical tensions within Generative AI art and explore its potential in constructing new aesthetic values.
