Gerald Peter (b. 1986) is a Vienna-based pianist, keyboardist, composer, and producer whose music seamlessly fuses progressive rock, neoclassical soundscapes, and electronic jazz fusion into a distinctive, cinematic style. Known for his expressive performances, he enriches his shows with self-produced, instrument-reactive visuals, creating a fully immersive audiovisual experience.
With a degree in Media Informatics from the Technical University of Vienna and years of private study in progressive rock, classical, jazz, and film music, Gerald combines technical expertise with artistic depth. His career highlights include international touring with Cirque du Soleil, serving as a Seaboard demonstrator for the London-based music technology company ROLI, and collaborating with Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater) on film music library albums released by Universal Production Music.
Now based in Vienna, Gerald works as a freelance session musician, composer, and performer. His original project, the “Gerald Peter Project”, showcases his distinctive compositional and performing voice through albums such as “Incremental Changes, Pt. 1 & 2”, alongside earlier productions with his bands Circle of Illusion and Inspirational Corner.
On stage, Gerald presents his music with a powerful blend of piano, synthesisers, self-produced orchestral and cinematic tracks, as well as live visuals. For his upcoming concert, he will be joined by world-class drummer Aaron Thier (who is also playing on the albums Incremental Changes, Pt. 1 & 2 as well), delivering a performance that promises both virtuosity and emotional depth—a captivating journey for both the ears and the eyes.
Born in Austria in 1981, Aaron Thier’s devotion to drumming began at the age of 3. A committed ensemble player from his teens, he founded the pop/rock band Mesiac at 15, which won the “America is Waiting” band award in 2001, and became a steady member of the local band KIXX. He then went on to study jazz drums at the University of Graz. While a student, he recorded as studio drummer for Robert Ponger, former producer of Austrian singer Falco.
Since the 2000s, Aaron has toured widely, presenting drum shows and workshops in Austria and abroad, and has created two promotion DVDs. His craftsmanship is recognised through endorsements with Anatolian Cymbals, TAYE Drums, DW Drums, and Paiste Cymbals.
Over the years, he has founded the jazz/fusion group TaucherWendtThier-Trio, the CARA Quartet and the GVT Trio. He has also been a band member of Studio Percussion, Blockwerk, PowerPipes, TOKYO and Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung, as well as a member and producer of AnJosef since 2021.
Project highlights include the Frank Zappa-inspired rock music project “Chris der Berg und die Unverbrauchten”, “Tribute to Falco”, and the performance at the “Life Ball” in Vienna with Drumatical Theatre. Recent milestones include the collaboration with “The Gerald Peter Project” and the appearance at Californian legendary Drum Channel in 2023.
